Meeting 4 of 2023 was held on Wednesday 14 June, at 1pm AEST.
We will read Lae'l Hughes-Watkins, "Moving Toward a Reparative Archive: A Roadmap for a Holistic Approach to Disrupting Homogenous Histories in Academic Repositories and Creating Inclusive Spaces for Marginalized Voices", The Journal of Contemporary Archival Studies, Vol 5 Article 6, 2018. https://elischolar.library.yale.edu/jcas/vol5/iss1/6/
We discussed:
- How can silences and gaps be addressed? You can't run a report on the silences!
- When undertaking co-creation, who is that co-creation with? Are new audiences being reached?
- Transactional nature of collecting or donating materials
- Many of these issues are systemic and are also reflected in systems
- How can we nurture a sense of belonging?
Also, please come with your ideas for articles you're interested in reading and discussing at future meetings. If you're super keen, you can add your suggestions to our Zotero library.
