Meeting 5 for 2021 was held on 4 August 2021, 2pm AEST, chaired by Rachel.
We read Dani Stuchel, 2020, Material Provocations in the Archives, Journal of Critical Library and Information Studies, Vol 3 No 1
https://doi.org/10.24242/jclis.v3i1.103

We discussed:
- Decay as part of archives
- The challenges this article presents to traditional conservation practice
- Inevitable but productive decay - and the comforts of decay
- Decay, despair and obsolescence with digital technology
- What would curating decay look like?
- The work of arresting decay currently part of archives work - a potential change to archivists' roles and relationship to archival material
- What would incorporating these ideas into (eg) archival description look like?
Also, please come with your ideas for articles you're interested in reading and discussing at future meetings. If you're super keen, you can add your suggestions to our Zotero library.
