Meeting 2 was held online via zoom on 24 March at 1:00pm - 2:00pm AEDT.
We discussed:
Jessica Tai (2020), 'Cultural Humility as a Framework for Anti-Oppressive Archival Description', Journal of Critical Library and Information Studies, Vol 3: Radical Empathy in Archival Practice (Pre-Prints), URL: https://journals.litwinbooks.com/index.php/jclis/article/view/120.
Facilitator: Kirsten
We spoke about the idea of cultural humility as a framework generally and what this meant for archives, whether an approach like this was practical in all circumstances, the fact that redescription work is done as a project and the implications of this for archival labour, and how a framework like this may benefit from a community of practice or mentoring relationships to assist in implementation.
If you would like more information or require the zoom link for the meeting, send us an email.
Also, please come with your ideas for articles you're interested in reading and discussing at future meetings. If you're super keen, you can add your suggestions to our Zotero library.
